Hi, my name is Johan Jacobs. Becoming a Life Coach was most probably one of my biggest milestones that I will ever reach in my studies and calling into ministry with Christian Leaders Institute.

I have been a Christian for more than 20 years and in all that time I always felt that I was missing something. I always felt the responsibility of a new Christian is on them to make sure they do what needs to be done to ensure growth in their relationship with God. I just felt that dragging people along is not what Jesus did.

I tried to raise my children with the understanding that they will always be responsible for their own lives no matter how much we as their parents tried to be. Unknowingly, I did just that (the “Life Coaching ministry with Christian Leaders Institute way”) in some major decisions my son had to make regarding a career move a few months back. I didn’t give him one solution and asked him questions on every statement he made. His message a few weeks back was short and sweet: “Thanks for believing in me, Dad.”

Professor Elzinga’s lectures gave me hope that I actually have a great ministry. After practicing some of the principles mentioned by him, I was amazed at the attitude of the people in our conversations. A colleague actually made some real progress in changing his lifestyle regarding food and exercise. Another colleague was just too eager to tell me more about his faith and “how and what he believes.”

I don’t know where this will lead me as I am currently teaching in China. One thing I know for sure is even if I only use my Life Coaching training “for me and my household,” I know generations will be changed.
